Holiday travel tips

Many of us love to travel, either within the country or outside. Everyone loves to travel..to have plenty of fun and adventure,so here are some tips to help you reach your destination fresh and relaxed.
  • PREPARE...Get a good night's sleep the night before you travel.Eat a light meal and do some gentle exercise before you set off on your journey.
  • RESET YOUR BODY CLOCK...When you travel across the time zone, your body's biological clock is thrown out of sinc, this can disrupt your sleep pattern, causing jet lag that can ruin your holiday....so Adjust your body's clock by resetting your watch to correspond time of your destination.adjust your eating and sleeping pattern at the start of your journey.even if it means having supper instead of breakfast.
  • DRESS RIGHT... Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothes and shoes that are not restrictive. Avoid spandex, high heels, girdles and stockings with tight, below-the-knee elastic bands, which encourage clot formation in the legs.
  • KEEP HYDRATED...Low cabin humidity may cause dry eyes, nose and throat. Wear spectacles instead of contact lenses, apply skin moisturizer and lip balm, and avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks and beverages like coffee or colas, which dehydrate. Instead, drink plenty of water and fruit juice.
  • KEEP MOVING... Deep Venous Thrombosis or DVT are clots that form in the veins of your legs due to sluggish blood circulation. This happens because you are immobile for long periods during long-haul flights and long distance car,bus or train rides.keep your circulation going by keeping your muscles moving.stand up and walk about in the aisle whenever possible, bend and straighten your legs, wiggle your toes and tense and release your bottom and thigh muscles every hour.
  • EAT RIGHT....Eat a light meal at least three hours before you set off to give your stomach time to begin digesting your meal. Skip the eggs, sausages and bacon, and acidic juices like orange juice. Whole grain breads, muffins and cereals and water, milk and apple juice are better choices. Traveling on an empty stomach is worse than eating the wrong foods. But don’t overeat and get bloated.
